5p fundraiser
Please send in any last jars of 5ps or anything with 5ps in. We have a total of £43 raised so far for our class subscription.
Well done to all of those that have sent their jars in already. Thank you x
The children will have their spelling test friday when new spellings will be given. Remind them to practise the words till the can spell them correctly and to use them to write sentences in their home work books.
Books are due in on Wed every week please.
Dear Parents,
This week at school the children are reading and writing about picture books from the USA.
As part of their work, children will have the chance to share with other children, a picture book from home that is really special to them.
Please talk to your child about the picture books they have at home. Help them to select a favourite – maybe now, maybe when they were younger.
Encourage children to say why they particularly like and enjoy it. Reasons might be the story or the pictures, or the fact that the book is a bit ‘different’, with for example, pop-ups or flaps. It might be because of who gave them the book or when they got it.
Children can bring the book itself into class or they can bring in just a photo of its front cover. We need their books anytime, but at the latest by Friday, when they will be talking and writing about them in class.
Any child unable to bring in a book from home will not be left out as they will have an opportunity to choose a book from the school library that they particularly like instead.
We will take good care of all books brought into school but it would a good idea to write your name inside the book before it is brought in.
If you have any further questions about the children’s project, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Welcome to the Owl class page.
Each week I will add homework for your child to complete over the week. This will be a task to consolidate learning we have been focused on during the week. If you wish to bring it in then that's ok but the main aim is to practise skills at home with you.
Please remember to read with your child as often as possible and record this in the reading diary sent home with the pages read and a comment if you wish. When I listen to your child I will suggest areas to work on to develop their reading skills.
Any issues at all please don't hesitate to see me or email on the class email address (I will respond as soon as I can, for urgent matters copy in the school admin account.)
If you need paper or have any difficulties either speak to me or email in to the owl.class@canewdon.essex.sch.uk address and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks
Mrs Truman
New homework
When practising spellings please use the look, cover, write, check format as shown on the sheet, this can be written in rather than printing. (We can save the planet more that way)
I would also like your child to write each word in a sentence, these should be written in the homework books.
Remind them to sound out as best they can unless it's the word they are learning. Also encourage them to use capital letters and fullstops.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
