Year 1 spellings

Challenge

If you have not done so already, can you please carry out a mini research project on cows?  You may want to include; diet, breeds, habitats, size and weight etc.  You can present your findings as a fact list, poster or information leaflet.  

 

If you have completed the cow research, could you please write some sentences about cows using the information you have researched and extend your sentences using the conjunctions we have been using in class; and, but, or, when, if, that and because.

 

Cows have an amazing sense of smell and can sleep whilst standing up.

Week 30th January - 3rd February

 

This week we have been learning:

Maths Year 1 - We have been doubling and continued adding and subtracting within 20.

Maths Year 2- We have been using own number bond knowledge to solve calculations.

English - We have written a familiar text based on All About Elephants.  We will be writing our own text about cows with the information that has been researched as part of the weekly homework. We have been working on extending our writing using conjunctions.

Geography - We have continued learning about the journey food takes. We learnt about the four countries of the UK, identified them on a map and learnt about the traditional foods that come from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Science - We have explored in detail the properties of materials using hand lenses and created pictorial sketches to represent our findings.

RE - We have learnt about the important elements of a Synagogue in preparation for our upcoming visit.

Art - We have been recreating and describing the details of artist, Louis Wain's art work.

Computing - We have learnt how to create a simple program to play back recorded audio in a rhythmic pattern.
