We will be holding group tours of our School for September 2023 starters, these will be held on Friday 21st October and Monday 14th November. Please email our school office at  admin@canewdon.essex.sch.uk and book your place. We very much look forward to meeting you.

Our School's Admission Information:

Our School is a Voluntary Controlled school.  This means that, in our case, we are a religious, Church of England school but the Local Authority has responsibility for the school.

However, anybody can apply for a place at our school and applications will be considered by the Local Authority following the most recent admissions criteria.

The Local Authority is also responsible for:

•    Employing the staff
•    Setting the admissions criteria.

We follow the National Curriculum and are regularly inspected by OfSTED and we also have Anglican Church inspections on a regular basis.   Please visit the relevant pages of the site for more details on our curriculum and our teaching methods.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

  • Essex County Council Links to school admissions page.

If you require any support completing the admissions process, please contact the school office who will be happy to assist you.

Admission arrangements for SEND children

Children with statements of SEN or with EHC plans that name the school on the statement or EHC plan are required to be admitted to school. Close liaison takes place with parents/carers and previous educational settings if appropriate.

Admission Appeals

A Statutory Appeals Service is supplied to the school by ECC. Parents wishing to appeal against a refusal of a place at the school may now do so online.

Please visit www.essex.gov.uk/admissions for the link on the School Admissions page.

Please contact the school should you want us to download a paper copy of the online form for you.

Please email statutoryappeals@essex.gov.uk if you have any queries.
