Current message from ECC Admissions:

Reception admissions for academic year starting in September 2020
Dear Parents
As you may be aware, the primary school (Reception) admission round opened on 11 November 2019, for parents of children to apply for a Reception school place for the academic year that starts in September 2020.
The statutory national closing date for applications is 15 January 2020.
From 11 November 2019, applications can be made online via www.essex.gov.uk/admissions. 98% of parents in Essex applied online last year.

We do not send letters to parents about making an application. All of the application information is available on the website above.

The website www.essex.gov.uk/admissions also has a copy of the Primary Education in Essex 2020/21 booklet and the Schools Admissions Policies Directories contain details of all admission policies.

Early Learning
For parents with children under 5 years old, who have not yet started school, the Department for Education (DfE)’s Hungry Little Minds campaign features tips and practical activities that you can do at home with children to support their early learning. There are many simple ways to help your children learn and it does not have to feel like ‘learning’. Having everyday conversations, make-believe play, and reading together, all make a big difference to your child’s development. You can find more ideas and content from the BBC’s Tiny Happy People campaign and the National Literacy Trust Family Zone.

Our School's Admission Information:

Our School is a Voluntary Controlled school.  This means that, in our case, we are a religious, Church of England school but the Local Authority has responsibility for the school.

However, anybody can apply for a place at our school and applications will be considered by the Local Authority following the most recent admissions criteria.

The Local Authority is also responsible for:

•    Employing the staff
•    Setting the admissions criteria.

We follow the National Curriculum and are regularly inspected by OfSTED and we also have Anglican Church inspections on a regular basis.   Please visit the relevant pages of the site for more details on our curriculum and our teaching methods.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

  • Essex County Council Links to school admissions page.
If you require any support completing the admissions process, please contact the school office who will be happy to assist you.

Admission arrangements for SEND children

Children with statements of SEN or with EHC plans that name the school on the statement or EHC plan are required to be admitted to school. Close liaison takes place with parents/carers and previous educational settings if appropriate.

Admission Appeals

A Statutory Appeals Service is supplied to the school by ECC. Parents wishing to appeal against a refusal of a place at the school may now do so online.

Please visit www.essex.gov.uk/admissions for the link on the School Admissions page.

Please contact the school should you want us to download a paper copy of the online form for you.

Please email statutoryappeals@essex.gov.uk if you have any queries.
